Carrie Symonds must have felt fairly nervous about the Conservative Party Conference this week. Since Boris Johnson took office in July,it's hardly been smooth sailing for the country's new Prime Minister and, as First Girlfriend, Symonds faces almost as much scrutiny as Johnson himself. As we know, all anyone wants to talk about is Symonds' wardrobe, something which has been much-discussed during this week's Conservative Party Conference in Manchester. So, who are we to ignore the will of the people? Especially as Symonds happened to choose some of our high street favourites for the occasion, not to mention a new coat from a British designer that we've had our eye on for the past couple of weeks...
Ah, the coat. Symonds wore it to arrive at the conference, promptly vindicating our utter obsession with it. It's by Isabelle Fox, a British label founded by Isabelle Waringthat consistently creates timeless, beautiful clothes you'll want to keep forever. The Amelia belted coat is no exception thanks to its British-dyed wool, flattering silhouette and fluid cut.
Next on the agenda was a Whistles dress, very much in-keeping with Symonds' love of longer lengths and feminine shapes. The colourful take on leopard print is actually from a previous Whistles collection but is still available here. It's not the first time Symonds has chosen the high street label, either, having worn a yellow gingham shirt dress during the summer.
Finally, proving that absolutely nobody is immune to the allure of & Other Stories, Symonds debuted a fuchsia midi from the brand. While the exact style is no longer available, Stories has a wide selection of similar dresses on offer to fulfill your autumn midi needs.
Before this conference, Symonds had also made headlines for wearing the British brand Ghost. In fact, when she first wore one of the British label’s dresses - the red-and-white Luella - it sold out within hours.
Ghost, however, was keen to emphasise that the Luella was almost sold out before Symonds wore it. A spokesperson for the brand said: 'The Luella dress is a Ghost bestseller, and is re-worked each season is different prints/colour-ways. The style that Carrie wore was in fact our consistent best-selling dress for two weeks (since it went live), and so it was almost sold out even before she wore it.’ You may not be able to get your hands on the Luella anymore, but there are still healthy stocks of the Jenna, a similarly sweet and high-necked style that comes in lime, navy or aqua.
