Dubbed the French Jane Fonda in some circles for her well-honed tan, athletic build and chic honey-blonde bob, France’s new First Lady Brigitte Macron is already making waves in the fashion community for her daring sense of style. A 63-year-old wearing leather trousers, miniskirts and towering heels? Bien sur! And why not – she’s a woman who clearly likes to stay in shape, has impeccable dress sense and isn’t afraid of a few raised eyebrows. Here, we glean the style secrets of a trio of looks she wore during the recent G20 Summit. Take notes.

Millennial Pink Isn’t Just For Millennials (And Neither Are Miniskirts)

The French First Lady completely upstaged her Argentinian counterpart Juliana Awada when she arrived for the Summit Spouse Programme wearing a salmon pink minidress. The A-line design, which featured a modest high neck and sleeves to balance out the risqué length, accentuated Brigitte’s toned legs – something American Vogue has even dedicated an article to. Teamed with complementary nude accessories (hello, Brigitte’s favourite Louis Vuitton Capucines bag in a new colour), oversized shades and a chic half-up, half-down ‘do, she had quite literally thrown the rule book off the boat that brought her there.

Monochrome Dressing Can Make You Look Taller

While it’s currently on trend to wear your trousers wide-legged, flared or cropped, Brigitte sticks to what she knows suits her best - skinny cuts that make the most of her coltish limbs. To ensure she doesn’t look smaller than necessary due to her petite frame she’s teamed hers with towering heels in the same colour plus a chic monochrome top – the use of black all over gives the illusion of length and height. The silver accents - see her arm cuff, the detail on her top and the zips on her trousers - add necessary interest to an otherwise simple look.

If In Doubt, Camel Coats Will Always Be Chic

Every woman should have a camel coat in her arsenal. Perenially elegant, they're the perfect accent to an all-black outfit, as seen here (particularly when teamed with a matching tan, natch) and look inherently expensive. Along with powder blue and black, it's one of the staple colours in her wardrobe. Everything about this is quintessential Brigitte: from the perfectly coiffed bob to her Vuitton bag and beaming smile (something she might want to teach Melania Trump about).
