As a celebrity, the world of fashion is putty in your hand. Though A-Listers have their pick of designers to chose from there are a handful of labels that unite the little man with the A-Lister. Topshop is one of them (ask Kate Moss), Fashion Nova another (looking at you Kylie Jenner) and now Ganni joins the ranks courtesy of Beyonce.
Recalling the visually-arresting image of Queen Bey smashing cars in Lemonade, the singer picked the Danish label’s ruffled Wilkie Seersucker Dress for a trip to a sports game. The simple by striking wrap dress, which is in the sale (!) for £359.08, has all the cult label’s house codes.
The label, which has been churning out insider-favourite ready-to-wear since 2009, nimbly produces effortless pieces imbued with personality in optimistic colours and vivid prints. Embodying the Copenhagen fashion scene, it’s down-to-earth yet a little off-kilter with pieces designed to be layered in creative ways - slinky slip dresses are made to be layered over tie-dye tops and shirred tops over t-shirts. Since the rise of Scandi style, Ganni has stood abreast of its competition as a vision of personality-driven fashion amongst the quintessential minimalism of the fashion-scape.
Usually, when a celebrity is spotted wearing a specific label there’s a reason - a finely tuned dance between PR and publicist has taken place - but we’d like to think that Queen Bey is above this. Ever since she used her colossal following to champion up-and-coming brands like Richard Quinn and recent Central Saint Martins graduate Edwin Mohney, we’re been inclined to think the Beehive is above the standard machinations of the celebrity-industrial complex.
