We’re Stealing This Autumn Styling Tip From Beyonce, Thank You Very Much

Beyonce is surprisingly relatable in her love of a good blazer.

I had an argument of sorts with someone recently about Instagram fashion. She said influencers are only obsessed with skimpy clothes and streetwear, I wasn’t convinced.

And, then, like magic, overnight proof popped up in my feed. After months of posting glitzy tour outfits, Beyonce returned to form with a series of six #OOTD ‘grams. There wasn’t a single track-y bottom in sight. Instead, the mogul, musician and mother-of-three bossed her feed in tailoring but more specifically, statement blazers.

Prabal Gurung is to thank for her first look, a grey split-sleeved jacket and matching trousers. It was quite Spice Girls circa 1997 when the fabulous five would skip the bra when turning up to red carpet events in matching suits. Queen Bey layered up with a pumpkin spice latte of a coat from Self Portrait and a matching orange striped bag from Diane Von Furstenberg with a Chanel brooch pinned to her lapel.

Mere hours later, Beyonce struck again with a further three selfies. And, again with the blazer. This time the centre of the focus was a black pearl-embellished jacket from Ellery with equally flamboyant sleeve that she teamed with Jacquemus Muse Gitan block-heeled mules and a micro Prada bag.

As news broke that Beyonce and Jay-Z's ONTRII tour made over £190million, it's no wonder Queen Bey was gravitating towards power dressing. But after seasons of suits tipping towards the masculine side of tailoring, this was a lesson in elevating the blazer into something sexy. The grey lipstick and sunglasses obviously helped prove this point.
