Although it may be true that 'no one mourns the Wicked', I'm quite confident that at least some people will mourn the end of the Wicked method dressing. After all, it has been almost a year of seeing the musical-turned-cinema-hit stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo dress exclusively in their Glinda and Elphaba pink and green outfits. 'Pink goes well with with green,' as we've all been told.
Yet last night's Golden Globes saw a slightly different take on the good witch bad witch get-up, that certainly swayed away from the signature shades, despite both actresses being nominated for Golden Globes for their roles in part one of the film.
Erivo stepped out in a black and silver lace Louis Vuitton gown that had quite the striking silhouette styled with her statement ear stack, while Grande opted for a vintage pale-yellow Givenchy gown from 1966, accessorised with her signature ponytail and Swarovski jewellery.
Although, despite the dresses not being green and pink, this isn't exactly the end of the method dressing moments. Part two of the film is still to come, after all.
Ariana and Erivo opted for a similar yellow and black colour palette for the UK premiere of Wicked part one back in November. The pair also went for white and black for the 2024 Met Gala, and made for similar shades at the Mexico press event.
So, perhaps now the film is out and gaining great traction of its own, the characters can experiment a little bit more with their wardrobe. Here's hoping for more statement styles.
