Last night Nicolas Ghesquiere won the International Designer Award and Creative Campaign Award, after two sparkling seasons as the creative director at Louis Vuitton. Nicolas was given his award by his muse, Charlotte Gainsbourg, who wore (surprise, surprise) next season LV.
We caught up with Nicolas after he picked up his award. So how does it feel to win International Designer after only two seasons at Louis Vuitton? "To be honest it went very quick, it's true it's a year, but it went so quick. Everything is going very well, I'm super happy." He added: "The house of Louis Vuitton is extraordinary and I'm still discovering so many things every day. It's very inspiring and is what a designer needs, to be inspired."
As for what British Fashion means to him, Nicolas said on the winners carpet: "British is a sense of the combination of things, the fearless and creativity is very strong. Of course the modernity mixed with history is what defines Britain, and I love it."
There was a lot of talk about how great Britain is last night. We also spoke to Victoria Beckham on the red carpet who told us: "It's a creative place to live - I live in London which is multicultural, fun and there's an incredible energy here. I feel very, very lucky to be here, I wasn't expecting this this evening."
