Previously known for her turn as the rebellious Lady Rose in Downton Abbey, the 25 year old actress looked every inch a real life princess when she descended on the red carpet for the world premiere of Cinderella at the Berlin Film Festival.
Wearing a strapless ballet pink Christian Dior pleated gown it seemed as if life was imitating Lily’s art. The only Cinders accessories missing were a pumpkin coach and a couple of mice- that would be ever so cumbersome for the biggest red carpet moment of one’s life, after all.
In their place were delicate De Beers jewels and a minimalist approach to make-up- no big curls and doll like make up here, just a mane with a centre parting with slight wave to it. Kate Middleton take note- that is how a modern princess should dress!
Naturally the look was finished off with a pair of Jimmy Choo ‘Cinderella’ shoes, commissioned especially for the occasion. The shoes may have had more bling on than is in Paris Hilton’s entire wardrobe, but nevertheless it was all part of the princess package.
Being the new, modern Cinderella Lily appeared at the Berlin press conference for the film earlier that day in an intricate embellished dress from Mary Katrantzou. The motifs on the dress retained a touch of exotic fairytale about it whilst the sheer panels made for a more directional look.
Maybe Helena Bonham Carter as the Fairy Godmother has powers which transcend to the real world, because ever since her transformative turn as Cinderella Lily James her style is certainly pure fantasy.
