Lady Gaga Channels Audrey Hepburn On The 2019 Oscars Red Carpet

Best Actress nominee Lady Gaga arrived at the 2019 Oscars in a look straight out of Breakfast At Tiffany’s. Paying homage to Audrey Hepburn in a black Alexander McQueen gown and matching over-the-elbow gloves, Gaga’s whole red carpet look was stunning – but it was the diamond around her neck that really got people talking.

The 128.54 carat Tiffany Yellow Diamond hadn’t been worn since 1962, when Audrey Hepburn modelled it on the publicity posters for Breakfast At Tiffany’s, and is said to be worth around $30million. WOW.

Discovered in South Africa in 1877, it’s one of the world’s biggest yellow diamonds, and has only been worn three times in total: first by Mrs. Sheldon Whitehouse at the Tiffany Ball in 1957, then by Audrey Hepburn and now Lady Gaga.

Honestly, when we first saw it around Gaga’s neck we thought it was the Isadora Diamond from How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days, but this is even more fabulous.

It’s a huge night for Lady Gaga, who is nominated for Best Actress and Best Original Song (Shallow). A Star Is Born is also nominated Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography and Best Sound Mixing, while Bradley Cooper is nominated for Best Actor.

This isn’t the first time this awards season that Lady Gaga has channelled an icon actress, with her Golden Globes look paying homage to Judy Garland’s own A Star Is Born look, albeit accidentally.

"No, but it looks an awful lot like that, doesn't it?" she told Entertainment Tonight. "[Garland] looks beautiful. This is Valentino Couture custom creation for me. “That's special, except I'm missing the gloves. Thank you for showing me that. It made my night."

And at the 2018 Los Angeles premiere of A Star Is Born, Lady Gaga wore a metallic dress and cape reminiscent of an outfit Barbra Streisand wore in the 1976 version of A Star Is Born.
