Last night it was two of the biggest events on the awards season calendar - the BAFTAs AND the Grammys. Over in LA chart-toppers from Taylor Swift to Beyonce hit the red carpet at the Staples centre. But it was Rihanna's look which was the headline grabbing centrepiece.

RiRi wore a fresh off the runway pink enormous Giambattista Vali Couture tulle gown. This makes Lena Dunham's controversial Giambattista Emmys gown look small. Rihanna said on the red carpet of her pepto-bismol tulle-fest: "I saw this dress on the Interenet and I just fell in love with it."

Madonna had a woah-there throwback on the red carpet, wearing a Givenchy matador outfit which was similar to the look she wore in her 1994 'Take A Bow' video. She said to Ryan Seacrest of the risky look: "He also made my performance outfit—they're different colors. [And] these boots have nails in them, I can't dance on nails."

Kim Kardashian meanwhile wore a gold Jean Paul Gaultier gown, saying of her choice: "There were a couple in the running but I love how sparkly it is! I love it."
