The 76th Golden Globe Awards are about to get underway at Los Angeles’ Beverly Hilton Hotel, hosted by Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg. While we wait for the main show action to kick off, let’s check out all the looks from the red carpet – plus what the stars wore to their first-ever Golden Globe Awards.
First up, Emily Blunt, who looked every bit as magical as Mary Poppins in her Alexander McQueen gown. Nominated for Best Actress – Motion Picture Or Comedy in _Mary Poppins Return_s, the actress walked the red carpet with husband John Krasinski, sending fans absolutely wild.
Back in 2007, Emily attended the Golden Globes wearing everyone’s favourite 2007 designer, Hervé Léger. With a stroke of beginner’s luck (not to mention bags of talent) she won Best Supporting Actress – Series, Miniseries or Television Film, for her role in Gideon's Daughter. That same year she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress – Motion Picture for her role as Emily in The Devil Wears Prada, but lost out to Jennifer Hudson’s stellar performance in Dreamgirls.
Next, Lady Gaga looked every inch the star in her flowing blue Valentino gown, matching her hair colour to the dress that required two people to carry its train. With A Star Is Bornnominated for five awards, including Best Actress In A Motion Picture – Drama, we hope they’re staying on hand to help Gaga to the stage.
In 2016, Lady Gaga won the award for Best Actress In A Limited Series Or TV Movie for her role as The Countess in American Horror Story: Hotel. Calling it ‘one of the greatest moments of [my] life’, Gaga accepted her award wearing a black Atelier Versace dress, her hair in Marilyn Monroe-esque curls.
Amy Adams kept it chic in teal, off-the-shoulder Calvin Klein, ahead of finding out she’ll win Best Actress – Miniseries Or Television Film for Sharp Objects, and/or Best Supporting Actress – Motion Picture for Vice.
Back in 2013, she wore a glamorous nude, fishtail Marchesa gown.
Statuesque as ever, Nicole Kidman brought the sparkle in a form-fitting, sequinned Michael Kors gown. Nominated for Best Actress In A Motion Picture for her role in Destroyer, Nicole accessorised with a disco ball bag and black hairbow, keeping festive fashion alive for another weekend.
Nicole’s first Golden Globes was back in 1992, when she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress – Motion Picture and attended with then-husband, Tom Cruise. Dressed in a black velvet mini dress, Nicole was every inch the 90s sweetheart, just beginning her now-epic acting legacy.
