We're not ones to let a time difference get in the way of red carpet reporting, so we have stayed up way past our bed time once to bring you all of the red carpet looks from the 2014 Emmy Awards over in Los Angeles. And boy was it worth it.

There were several obvious leading ladies on the red carpet. First up we have Kerry Washington, who wowed in an orange strapless Prada gown with delicate caged detailing on the bodice and a dramatic thigh high slit. Swoon, swoon and more swoon.

Julia Roberts also looked fab-ul-ous with her megawatt smile and a navy sequin Elie Saab frock - she was one of the only ladies to have a hemline above the knee. January Jones is likely to top best dressed lists today thanks to her beautiful red Prabal Gurung gown with full, sweeping pleated skirt. She kept it playful with a cute plaited updo.

You couldn't move on the red carpet for princess gowns. There was Allison Williams' Giambattista Valli number with a nude full tulle skirt and a pink strapless bodice with a yellow waistband and black bow detailing.

Taylor Schilling in Zuhair Murad [Getty]

Speaking of the Giambattista, her Girls co-star Lena Dunham also opted for a frothy Valli frock with a dramatic layered skirt graduating from candy pink to red. One word: BOLD. Something tells us this will be the most talked about look of the night.

Cat Deeley wore a dusty pink princess gown by Burberry, while January Jones upped the drama in a divine red gown by Prabal Gurung. But it was Lizzy Caplan (aka JANIS IAN from Mean Girls) who wore the cool-girl princess gown - a black halter-neck Donna Karan Atelier gown with a beautiful white train. Best dressed contender? We think so! You go Glen Coco.

In terms of colour the red carpet was all about, you guessed it, red. January Jones, Uzo Aduba, Sarah Hyland, Christina Hendricks, Kaley Cuoco, Octavia Spencer, Natalie Dormer and Heidi Klum were all ladies in red.

As expected, the Emmys red carpet was invaded by Orange Is The New Black stars from Taylor Schilling in Zuhair Murad to Laverne Cox in a white gown with statement train. Natasha Lyonne upped the glamour in a navy lace fitted dress with a kicked out skirt by Opening Ceremony*.*
