Elle Fanning’s Dressing DNA: From Teen Chic To Hollywood Glamazon

Last week Elle Fanning transformed from child actor into a bona fide woman with a stylish string of wardrobe winners. Promoting her latest flick, Maleficent, the sister of Dakota Fanning (you know the one who appeared as the child in practically every film in the noughties) has not only stepped out of her sibling's style shadow she also laid down the garment gauntlet to her co-star, Angelina Jolie. She may be sweet sixteen but this little lady is proving her wardrobe worth and here are the five reasons why we name her ‘Elle The Exquisite’...* *

**1. She's A Clothing Chameleon

Elle, the face of Miu Miu, is one clever clothing chameleon with her fashion fluctuating from glorious glamazon to red carpet rebel. At last year’s Met Ball the actress appeared in a printed Rodarte dress and finished off the look with a bold choice of eye shadow, showing that she certainly wasn’t fazed by the punk theme. Her daring dressing approach has seen her switch with ease from tackling platform Prada looks to oozing old school Hollywood glamour, as she did at the London premiere of Maleficent last week in a lemon Georges Hobeika gown. On that occasion the dress and beauty look combined to make her every inch the crowned princess of fashion.** **

2. Bare Faced Beauty

Apart from her Met Ball moment last year the actress is usually reliant on her natural and youthful beauty doing all the talking. If any make-up is even applied at all, it’s keep to an absolute minimum and Elle is all the more radiant because of her stealth approach to make-up application. So norm core, we love it!****

Unlike Lupita Nyong’o and her hair band wearing ways, Elle’s age gives her the perfect justification to wear the accessory and use the girly card to her advantage. Elle always accessories with a somewhat magpie eye, filling her nest with an array of treasures from embellished Marni flatforms to princess inspired heels. Her teaming of floral headbands with floor length gowns shows that she is wardrobe wise beyond her years!* *

4. The Angie Angle

If you are acting alongside Hollywood royalty and someone with as much red carpet experience as Angelina Jolie you are going to have to bring a seriously stylish selection on the promotional tour. Elle has done just that, she went for matchy-matchy with Angie at the London photo call for Maleficent and got shorty in Valentino whilst Angelina jumped into a jumpsuit the next day at the Paris photo call. Perhaps the pair shared fashion tips during the breaks on set, as the Elle Fanning of late is definitely a more mature dresser.*

5. The Super Stylist

The super stylist behind Elle’s look is Samantha McMillen, who was named as one of Hollywood Reporter’s 25 Most Powerful Stylists this year. McMillen has been dressing the Fanning sisters since 2012 and hasn’t looked back since, conquering the red carpet one Elie Saab dress at a time and if that wasn't enough she recently added Kim Basinger to her client list #major. The stylist states that the two Fanning ladies have very different styles, ‘Dakota is old school Hollywood, but a younger version of that, and Elle is a mix of bohemian and sporty,’ so it seems there is no style swopping when it comes to these siblings.
