The CFDA Awards is always one of the biggest nights on the fashion calendar, and last night's ceremony certainly didn't disappoint. The red carpet was awash with stars, but it was all about one lady: Rihanna. The singer wore a totally sheer Adam Selman dress with a slinky racer back covered in 216,000 Swarovski crystals. By sheer we mean SHEER, as her nipples were clearly visible through her dress. The Fashion Icon of the Year RiRi paired it with a Swarovski crystal headscarf and pale pink fur stole.

Rihanna's stylist Mel Ottenberg said to Style.com: “It’s so naked. “I don’t know if it’s shocking—I’m with her all the time, so my shock gauge is off, but I told her that I thought she was ready for this dress a while ago, and that I wasn’t. I’m the prude, and I’m just catching up.” “We definitely wanted to make it a little bit scandalous,” Adam Selman said of the dress. “The dress is just fishnet and crystals and a couple of fingers crossed. But fashion is about beauty, and the [female] body is part of that.”

Lupita Nyong'o wore an opinion-diving colourful striped top and trousers by Suno, while Blake Lively wore a gold beaded Michael Kors mini dress with Casadei nude heels and a satin headband. CFDA winners Mary Kate and Ashley wore layers of black (quelle surprise) by their own label The Row.
