The Cannes Film Festival is known for producing some of the most beautiful photo ops: whether its the elegant red carpet on La Croissiette, or the palm tree and yacht-stewn backdrop of the harbour, there's no denying that it is one of the most picturesque events of the year. Attracting a high calibre of movie stars promoting their latest cool indie project, as well as a handful of up-and-coming starlets and models keen to be seen, it's the creme de la creme of the festival circuit. Until Venice, that is.

Here are the best looks from this year's festival so far: from Cate Blanchett's reworked Armani Prive to Kristen Stewart in a cornflower blue Chanel suit.
