You might have heard that last night it was a little thing called the Academy Awards, where Hollywood's finest walked the red carpet in beyond beautiful couture. In our books, it's ten times better than Christmas. While you were sleeping, we did an all-nighter here at Grazia HQ to bring you all of the action as it happens. Who needs sleep when you have frothy couture, eh?

Lupita Nyong'o is a serious contender best dresser of the night (again) as she looked incredible in a light blue grecian Prada gown, which she accessorised with a delicate headband. Lupita was having a princess moment on the red carpet, as she couldn't stop wafting the skirt as she walked. Amy Adams opted for a navy strapless Gucci Couture gown, which is rather similar to Sandra Bullock's navy Alexander McQueen number.

Cate Blanchett was the red carpet QUEEN in an exquisite Giorgio Armani gown, with delicate embroidery. It caused gasps here at Grazia towers - the kind of dress you dream of wearing when you pick up an Oscar. Angelina Jolie side-stepped her signature black floor-sweepers for the night, and was drenched in gold sequins. Well if you can't wear gold at the Oscars when can you?

Then we come to the red carpet emergencies. Jennifer Lawrence hit the red carpet in red Dior (quelle surprise) and had ANOTHER trip on the red carpet. But this is J Law, so of course she got back up and had a good ol' laugh about it. Kelly Osbourne started the night off in a beautiful white Badgley Mischka gown with a sheer embellished overlay, but she had a last minute dress swap as she couldn't hike up the stairs in her gown. At least you got papped in it eh Kels?

So how do the frocks compare to the looks in previous years? We have rounded up the 50 best Oscars dresses of all time, including the princess Dior gown J Law wore last year, Gwyneth Paltrow's white Tom Ford and Mila Kunis' lilac Elie Saab. Plus you HAVE to see this Oscars infographic, which shows what every single Best Actress winner wore on to the awards.

So what are you waiting for? Take a look at all the best dresses at the Oscars this year in the gallery below...
