Zendaya is becoming one of our favourite celebrities on the internet for her ability to stand up for what she believes in and not take anything lying down. The 19 year-old actress and style star is on the cover of Modeliste magazine, but she hit out on social media after she saw pictures of her body altered via Photoshop.
Commenting that the magazine had photoshopped her body and hips, Zendaya posted the difference to her Instagram page so her fans could see the truth behind the changed images.
"Had a new shoot come out today and was shocked when I found my 19 year old hips and torso quite manipulated" she wrote.
"These are the things that make women self conscious, that create the unrealistic ideals of beauty that we have. Anyone who knows who I am knows I stand for honest and pure self love. So I took it upon myself to release the real pic (right side) and I love it. Thank you @modelistemagazine for pulling down the images and fixing this retouch issue"
It turns out Modeliste have ditched the altered images and stuck with the original after Zendaya's protest - a positive move given the former Disney star's fanbase of young women.
Fellow celebrities like Ellen Pompeo and fellow Disney starlet Rowan Blanchard praised Zendaya for speaking out, with Rowan tweeting: "Thank you for helping me and millions of other girls love themselves FOR themselves", and Rumer Willis adding "This is why you are such an inspiration girl. This gives me hope. Thank you ".
Zendaya famously spoke out after Giuliana Rancic criticised her hair on E! show Fashion Police, causing co-hosty Kelly Osbourne to quit. She also responded brilliantly to a troll who called her parents 'ugly' a few months back.
