In the second case of a pop star causing carnage after doing a bit of Twitter-admin, Zayn Malik has upset many a fan by removing the ‘1D’ at the end of his Twitter handle. His bio, which used to read: ‘just close your eyes and enjoy the rollercoaster that is life :)’ now reads…as nothing.
However, eager One Directioners won’t let him get away with it, tweeting heartfelt memes to Zayn via the hashtag #YouWillAlwaysBeZaynMalik1D
Our favourite? This one:
The real/fake direct message from Zayn to a fan saying: ‘Because 1D is not in my name, it’s in my heart x’ is good enough, but the cartoon of Zayn cutting the ‘1D’ off of a piece of paper and then implanting it into his heart via some very crude heart surgery just gets us, right…there.
As for One Direction? Well, Harry’s the one we care about the most – did you see him crying after Zayn left? – and he’s got a Twitter list called ‘The Group’ and it includes Zayn in, to this day.
And, um, just while we’re on this subject, Zayn tweeted this last night:
Which makes us wonder if the removal of ‘1D’ was just something he did when he was stoned.
