It’s new year, new Zayn Malik, you guys. And if you’re in need of a lesson in how to pull off a style transformation without anyone really noticing that you’re basically a whole new different person, look no further because this ex-One Direction man has only gone and done it.
With the new year comes the lure of reinvention. I’m sure I speak on behalf of many of us when I say new year’s resolutions focused on giving yourself a wardrobe overhaul aren’t the easiest to pull off. But with the help of savvy celeb stylist, Jason Rembert, Zayn has a slick and grown up new look. And when I say slick and grown up I mean he’s worn a lot of black in 2018...
We’re talking middle-aged man on a European mini-break meets Neo from the Matrix. And hey, it seems to be working for him.
There was the time that he rocked some Harry Potter glasses with a breton style turtle neck - a move that's leaps and bounds from the popped polo neck collars and Varsity jackets for the 1D days:
Then there's the time Zayn was out strolling the streets in a black baseball cap and sensible(ish) black walking boots:
And then of course, there's the now iconic time he was out celebrating his birthday with Gigi Hadid and the pair of them dressed as if they were about to enter the Matrix to rescue Morpheus from whatever tomfoolery Mr Smith was up to.
All strong looks, don't you think? But also rather different from the sartorial choices of the Zayn we know and love. Could this cheeky little black re-brand be a signpost towards the new album we've been not so patiently waiting for? Here's hoping.
