We admit it: there's nothing we like more than a celebrity couple. So we're more than a little bit excited about new rumours concerning a potential reconciliation between supermodel Gigi Hadid and former One Direction star Zayn Malik.
Over the weekend, Gigi shared a photograph of herself on her Instagram, showing her cooking. She also posted images of several ingredients on her Stories, explaining that she was making a chicken curry pasta salad. She tagged Zayn's mother, Trisha, in the post, establishing that she was using her ex's mum's recipe.
Next, Trisha herself reposted Gigi's picture, adding a screen grab of a historic interview in which Gigi said that her favourite restaurant was her 'boyfriend's mum's kitchen.'
There was no suggestion that Gigi and Trisha were in the same place, but fans nevertheless got excited on social media. 'Wait. Gigi [is] with Zayn's mom?' one Insta user asked. 'Does that also mean that Gigi [is] with Zayn? Or just cooking with his mom? What.' 'Gigi [and Zayn] have been together again for a long time, but just now they are showing...' another speculated. 'Zayn is the most discreet guy I've ever seen, he only lets us know a small percentage of his life.'
There had already been rumours that the pair had been 'back in touch' in recent months, following Gigi's split from boyfriend Tyler Cameron. A source told E! News that they had gone 'through a phase where they took time apart and weren't communicating at all, but they have been in touch recently. She is supportive of him. They chat here and there but it's been casual.'
Gigi and Zayn first got together in 2015 - following his split from Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards - but the on-off relationship ended in early 2019. The romance was played out firmly in the public eye: Gigi appeared in a video for Zayn's debut single Pillowtalk. In 2017, they fulfilled an ultimate couple goal by making the cover of American Vogue, and discussed their relaxed approach to gender in fashion. 'I shop in your closet all the time, don’t I?' said Gigi. 'Yeah, but same,' Zayn explained. 'If it’s tight on me, so what? It doesn’t matter if it was made for a girl.' Their break-up was announced via their Instagram acccounts.
