Winning an Oscar - the highest accolade in film - must be pretty overwhelming. But winning an Oscar, and being handed your trophy by Brad Pitt{
The 73 year old was clearly delighted to be given her award by the Hollywood heartthrob. And she let us all know in her acceptance speech, with perhaps one of the most iconic intros we've ever heard. 'Mr. Brad Pitt, finally,' she started. 'Nice to meet you. Where were you when we were filming in Tulsa?' Composing herself, she then put her hands over her face. However - even though this would be literally our reaction anyway - she did have reason to ask where Brad was when the cast were filming, as he was an executive producer on the film. She did add 'Still nice to meet you,' though, so, if there was any doubt, she clarified she was definitely happy to meet him.
The actress made history last night, becoming the first South Korean actor to win an Oscar. During her speech she also pointed out how her name is actually pronounced, as Brad, and several others, have been mispronouncing it during awards season. 'As you know, I'm from Korea,' she said before demonstrating the different pronunciations of her name she hears on a daily basis. 'But tonight, you are all forgiven!' she added.
Youn was in great company in her category as Maria Bakalova, Glenn Close, Olivia Colman and Amanda Seyfried were also nominated for the award. 'How can I win over Glenn Close? I've been watching her for so many performances,' Youn said, who then added that the actresses couldn't compete with each other. Humbly, she also said that her win was down to luck - 'I'm luckier than you' - which made the audience laugh.
Her funniest quip, though, happened in the press conference following her win, as she replied 'I didn't smell him, I'm not a dog' when a journalist asked what Brad smelled like. (To be honest, we have all wondered.) She also added that she 'blacked out for a couple seconds' when he said her name, which proves that even the most talented can get starstruck.
