Lovingly nicknamed YasGPT for her deadpan delivery and perfect posture, Yasmin Pettet has fast become one of season 12's most popular Love Islanders. Despite a rocky run navigating romances with Harry Cooksley and Ben Holbrough – both instances that saw her earn the title of 'elite islander' in voiceover star Iain Stirling's eyes - the 24-year-old is now happily coupled up with Casa boy Jamie Rhodes, 26.
And if one Yas wasn’t iconic enough, there’s a clone on the scene. Things became even more exciting when Jamie’s brother Michael and mum Tina arrived with Yasmin’s twin sister Zara and mum Mitra. Zara tells her sister, 'I’m literally getting stopped, people are coming up to me thinking I’m you.The amount of messages I’ve got saying, "Tell your sister she’s an icon, she’s a legend".'
The star recently revealed during her date with Jamie that she has a twin. To anyone chronically online, this may not come as a revelation. Yas’ twin Zara – who some have nicknamed 'ZaraBot' - has created a TikTok account, where she’s updating fans about her sister...
In one video, Zara was seen impersonating some of Yas’s most iconic moments. One clip saw her burst out laughing trying to recreate the moment Yas demanded Harry 'shut the fuck up and kiss’ her. Another saw Zara's impression of her sister's run-in with Ben, saying, ‘Waste my money, waste whatever, don’t f*cking waste my time.’
‘You even sound alike,’ wrote one viewer in the comments, as another added, ‘I thought Yasmin got dumped and I missed a whole episode!’
In another video, Zara revealed that while they may look identical, they’re actually fraternal twins. This means that rather than coming from one egg that split (as is the case with identical twins), Zara and Yas came from two separate eggs. Fraternal twins are no more genetically alike than any other siblings born at different times.
Zara explained, ‘I can kind of appreciate that we look similar, maybe we sound similar, but to us, we’re not. We don’t see each other when we look at each other. We don’t see how other people can see that we’re identical.'
Also in yesterday's episode, we saw Yasmin, Toni, and Shakira's mums mirror the trio's iconic friendship, after flying out to see their daughters in the villa. They filmed a TikTok and shared that they've been hanging out every night and plan to continue a friendship in the future.
'We’re all here together in Majorca and we have family day to day. You guys keep asking if we’re going to meet up and hang out,' Toni's mum Leslie said. 'Our girls are friends because they have very similar mums. We get along really well. I’ve had a blast with both of you.'
Zara’s account has certainly blown up, with over 40k followers. Responding to a comment reading, ‘You need to come on as a bombshell,’ she joked, ‘I’m really glad that we’re all on the same wavelength here, because I agree. I literally thought it [would] make great TV if they’re like, “A hot new bombshell,” and then it’s me that walks out, and everyone’s like “Oh my God, she has a twin!” We are seeing the vision. But nobody called me, nobody wants me.'
And while Zara might not be a bombshell, we may see her enter the Love Island villa soon. ‘The meet the family episode is coming up,’ she revealed, ‘so fingers crossed YasGPT stays in the villa, because then I can get my five seconds of fame. No one tell her this, but I’m actually really missing her. I miss my sissy, and I would like to go on and see her.'
The news of twin Zara did some as a shock to some fans, given Yas hadn't seemed to open up about her family prior to her date with Jamie. However, while Love Island seems to have kept it on the down-low in their editing, dumped islander Malisha has shared that Yas wasn’t exactly keeping it a secret. Speaking on the Spill With Will podcast, Malisha said, ‘She has mentioned that she had a twin. I don’t know if I should be spreading her business but yeah, she has a twin. Apparently, her twin’s worse than her.’
