One of the main benefits of appearing on Love Island is the cash that is almost guaranteed afterwards in sponsorship deals - but the most recent batch of Love Islanders could have missed out on hundreds of thousands of pounds in lost earnings since coronavirus lockdown began. Islanders like Paige Turley,Finn Tapp, Siânnise Fudge and Luke Trotman would have been expected to rake in the £££s after leaving the South African villa in February, but thanks to government enforced measures, they haven’t been enjoying the fruits of their labour.

'The Winter Love Island stars are set to lose huge amounts of money, some contestants up to £500,000,' PR expert Jack Cooper told Metro.co.uk. 'Brand deals at the moment are at an all-time low, many companies are not able to afford the usual Love Island prices for sponsorship deals. They are also missing out on club appearances due to them being closed, which could have earned them up to £5,000 per hour.' He went on to add, 'With no events to attend, they are also missing out on a huge range of exposure in the media, having no stories for the press to write about.'

Love Island bosses have also reportedly seen a massive increase in applications for the next series, with more than 13,000 singletons rumoured to be seeking a place in the villa. Despite weeks of rumours surrounding the show’s status, producers are said to be pushing on with this year’s summer series and could launch the show in August or September. And according to new reports, extra staff have even been drafted in to interview potential Islanders and whittle them down into a shortlist.
