**1. She's a snowboarding boss **
At 13, Chloe was already one of the best snowboarders in the US, qualifying for the Sochi Games two years before she was old enough to take part. Aged 14, she won four X Games titles, and a year later she became the second ever halfpipe rider to gain a perfect score of 100. Now, at 17, she’s killing it at her first Olympic Games, winning a gold medal with a score of 98.25 on her final run.
2. She's doing it for the girls
Snowboarding is generally thought of as a predominantly male sport, but Chloe Kim is changing that. Referring to the huge crowds that gathered to watch her race, she said it’s ‘so exciting to see women’s snowboarding be something that people want to see’.
**3. She has an amazing relationship with her family **
The location of this year’s Winter Olympics has particular poignancy for Chloe, whose parents emigrated from South Korea to California in 1982. She’s spoken about this, as well as the amazing support she’s received from her parents and particularly her dad, who’s become something of an internet sensation in his own right. Jong Jin bought Chloe her first snowboard aged four, and later quit his job for a whole year to dedicate himself to nurturing her talent. This picture of him cheering her on from the side-lines also has us feeling all the feels.
4. She gets hangry too
Mid-Olympic Games, Chloe found time to tweet about her hanger after not finishing her breakfast sandwich. We feel you Chloe.
She’s also tweeted about her love of churros and ice cream, both of which we are fully in support of.
5. Her V-day tweet was everything
Considering the huge platform Chloe is developing, we love the self-love and empowerment encapsulated in her Valentine's Day tweet.
6. We can fully relate to her eyeliner anxiety
Speaking to NBC News, Chloe revealed that she was trying not to cry after winning her gold medal because she didn’t want to mess up her makeup: ‘I was like, ‘I can’t cry right now, I can’t do this, I worked so hard on my eyeliner’. The struggle is so real.
7. She speaks three languages
As well as being a world-class Olympic athlete and an all-round great gal, Chloe is fluent in English, Korean and French. Is there anything this girl can’t do?
8. She hasn't let the fame get to her head
Despite all the media attention, Chloe seems to have stayed humble. In an interview after the victory, she said “I am so fortunate to be able to go through it. To share my story with the world has been amazing”. She also posted this adorable photo of her two biggest fans.
