It's been a busy couple of days for Kanye West. Having made quite the poignant return to Twitter to enlighten us with his distinctive brand of Yeezy philosophy, announce a new album and (apparently) write a new book in Twittersphere realtime, we've had a lot to keep up with.
Don't worry, we thought he was trolling us too for a second, but after almost a week of Donald Trump style 'watch-me-tweet-as-I-think-because-IDGAF-and-will-say-what-I-want-to-say' behaviour, Kanye seems to be firmly behind what he's been saying. Which is why when one particular Trump-specific tweet was sent, the world was a little bit concerned....
'You don't have to agree with trump, but the mob can't make me not love him', Kanye wrote. 'We are both dragon energy. He is my brother. I love everyone. I don't agree with everything anyone does. That's what makes us individuals. And we have the right to independent thought.'
Heavy stuff, indeed. While we're familiar with Kanye's public alignment with Trump (we all remember those awkward pictures they took together at Trump Tower before the 2017 election), this is probably the first time Kanye West has laid his, erm, feelings, for his 'brother' and fellow dragon man, Donald Trump on the Twitter line.
In the midst of the onslaught of criticism and commentary that followed, we eventually reached a point when wife Kim Kardashian had to intervene. 'my wife just called and she wanted me to make this clear to everyone', Kanye tweeted a little later on in the day. 'I don't agree with everything Trump does. I don't agree 100% with anyone but myself'.
I'm sure the vague clarification of where Kanye stands on some of Trumps actions and not others was dually welcomed by all of the confused fans and onlookers unable to tear themselves away from their phones yesterday. But beyond the assertion that he is firmly on team #MakeAmericaGreatAgain, Kanye's twitter behaviour has been reflecting that of Donald Trump's of late too. So much so that you might not be able to distinguish who said what. So much so, that you could, if you wanted to, make a bit of a game of it...
