Our favourite goth-girl icon, Wednesday Addams, is back on our screens for a second series and we couldn't be more excited. Season Two sees Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) return for a new term at Nevermore, where she joins a star-studded cast that includes Joanna Lumley, Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper and even Lady Gaga herself. Naturally, it's already received great reviews from critics.
Season one left us with a glaring question - Wednesday Addams has a stalker. And, true to style, it doesn't take Wednesday long to unravel the mystery. The stalker turns out to be outcast Agnes De Mill, who has admired Wednesday since she saved the school from a demon at the end of season one. Here's everything we know about Agnes De Mill - and Evie Templeton, the actress who plays her.
Who is Agnes De Mill?
Agnes De Mill is a student at Nevermore, who turns out to be Wednesday's stalker. According to Netflix's Tudum, Agnes is 'eccentric and delightfully unhinged', and an 'outcast with the power of invisibility.' Agnes is obsessed with Wednesday and will go to extreme lengths to earn her admiration - even if that means kidnapping Agnes' friend Enid and nearly killing her.
Co-creators and showrunner Miles Millar shared his thoughts on Agnes with Netflix's Tudum: 'One of the highlights of Season 2 has been the relationship between Agnes, Enid, and Wednesday. We felt it was important to challenge Wednesday and Enid’s relationship. How does Wednesday navigate the idea of friendship? We put Agnes in the middle of it - she’s this Wednesday superfan, and someone who believes she is a natural best friend for Wednesday. Agnes does something very extreme in Episode 2 and almost kills Enid. How does Enid reconcile that near-death experience with this growing friendship she sees between Wednesday and Agnes?'
Who plays Agnes De Mill?
Agnes De Mill is played by Evie Templeton, and it's her breakout role as an actress. She was born in Barbados, and attended London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, where she had a drama scholarship. She made her acting debut in 2022, with minor roles in the BBCS Life After Life, and Disney film Pinocchio.
Her first major role came in 2023, when she starred alongside Tuppence Middleton in horror movie Lord of Misrule as Grace Holland. She also voices the character of Laura in Konami's remake of Silent Hill.
In an interview with Netflix's Tudum, Templeton spoke about her belief that what you watch growing up helps to shape you. 'I think that watching movies, and especially watching things that touch on more difficult topics, definitely gives you a greater understanding of the world and helps you not just live in a bubble. It helps you become a more sympathetic, understanding, and perceptive person,' she told the outlet.
How old is Evie Templeton?
Evie Templeton is 16 years old.
What has Evie Templeton said about playing Agnes De Mill?
In the interview with Netflix's Tudum, Evie detailed how she was nervous to play Agnes, but was welcomed with a collaborative approach from Tim Burton and co-creators and showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar.
'They just talked about me as a person, about my idea of Agnes, and we started to build her together,' she said. 'They had a very collaborative approach throughout the whole of filming, which is amazing — to be a 15-year-old girl with that kind of involvement in building the character.'
She also took part in a Zoom chemistry read with Ortega and Emma Myers, who plays Enid. Speaking about calming her nerves, Templeton said 'I listened to a little bit of Billie Eilish,' continuing, 'I tried to keep myself relaxed, did some triangular breathing, which I always try to do before auditions and performances. And then I tried to think that they were just my friends, and that I was just having a conversation with my friends, and that definitely helped. It was very surreal, though. Afterwards, I ran around my kitchen and then had to lie down.'
