Emma Watson doesn’t look like she’s slowing down in the fight for gender equality. On top of being a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, feminist, activist, and book club leader (if you’re not part of it yet, you should be), the actress can now add 'filmmaker' to her list of accolades. This weekend she tweeted about a short film she helped make, which is pretty inspirational.

In the video, Watson narrates the struggles in the fight for gender equality, and her voice is played over clips of some pretty kick-ass women hurdling in the 1984 Women’s Olympic Finals.

Most of us who identify as feminists are aware of the obstacles faced by women around the world, but Watson is sure to highlight the one’s we’ve already overcome (to the uplifting soundtrack of Sia’s Chandelier). Listening to the progress women have made in Emma’s voice is the cherry on top of a motivating message; while there are many more hurdles to overcome, 'the race is still on, every day, of every year of our lives, but we will cross the finishing line.'

The video ends with a call to become a #GlobalCitizen, and be a politically active voice in the issues which impact the world. Emma’s video is just part of the project for Globalcitizen.org, a non-profit social action platform which provides information and a community for people committed to social change.

This video comes less than a week after Watson delivered a hard-hitting speech about campus sexual assault at the UN General Assembly. We’re waiting eagerly to see what she’s going to do next.

Excited to show you this small film I helped make. Hope it gets you going! #Hurdles #GenderEqualityTogether@TheGlobalGoals #Goal5 pic.twitter.com/xpEDoXp8ot
