Ahead of the Spice Girls’ hotly-anticipated reunion tour, their fifth and notably absent member Victoria Beckham posted a throwback pic from their 1997 Brit Awards performance. Captioned with ‘Good luck to the girls today as they start their tour! x VB #SpiceGirls #FriendshipNeverEnds’, Beckham’s spirit of generosity seems largely shared by her ex bandmates; Melanie Chisholm (Mel C, to you and I) commented ‘Thanks honey! We’ll miss you.’ Amidst rumours that a rift had opened between Victoria and the four remaining Spice Girls after she declined to participate, a source for MailOnline was keen to quash speculation, explaining that ‘[the Spice Girls] have come up with a tribute to [Victoria] and she’ll be getting a significant mention on stage in the most glowing terms, visually and verbally.’

The pop-icon-turned fashion-designer, as successful in her new career as she ever was in music, looks on while Geri and Mel B have shared behind-the-scenes tidbits from tour preparation. It sounds like there are no regrets for Victoria — speaking to the Guardian Weekend about whether it was a hard decision not to join the girls on tour, Victoria said: 'Not at all’. She went on to explain that ‘what [she does] now is [her] passion and a full-time job’ — however much we’re fantasising about taking the stage as the long-lost Sixth Sister, VB’s got plenty to keep her away from it. Holding her label’s Fall 2019 show at Tate Britain in February this year for LFW, and sparking rumours of a new reality show when she was spotted with a camera crew in New York a couple of weeks ago, she’s hardly at a loose end — any ill-feeling at her absence looks to have been put to bed in time for the tour's kick off.

Meanwhile, the four Spice Girls played to a sold-out auditorium at Dublin’s Croker Park for their first show last night. While some fans complained of poor sound quality – twitter-user Sabrina Egerton wrote ‘There's something wrong when the crowd at a Spice Girls concert are all sitting down because no one has a clue what song is on because the sound really is that bad’ – the tour’s teething problems were addressed by Mel B on Instagram: ‘We will see you in Cardiff. And hopefully the vocals and the sound will be much, much better, pfft.’ One show down, 12 to go – #GirlPower officially reinstated for 2019.
