How To Use Snapchat Filters Like A Pro

We are all spending far too much time on Snapchat. We need to SNAP out of it. (Geddit?) Until we do, we break down how to use Snapchat filters for those who are not yet addicted (give it time, Snapchat will get everyone in the end).

How can I get Snapchat filters?

Maaaate, where have you been? Have you never used Snapchat? You simply open the camera and turn it round to your beautiful face. Once it’s facing you, hold your finger down on your face and you’ll see rings appear - these rings mean the filters are about to appear. You’ll then see all the filers pop up along the bottom, and you can scroll until your hearts content and pick which ever you want to use. Simply tap the filter and oh hey hi, it’s on your face.

How can I update my Snapchat Filters?

Easy - just go onto your app store on your phone and update it. You should get a notification when your app needs updating so you can stay up to date.

What are Snapchat Geofilters?

Snapchat geofilters are all based on your location. So wherever you are in the big wide world, you can add your geofilter tag and let your followers now where you’re snapping from. You can also create your own geofilters by drawing a geofence around your location online on the snapchat website (this costs FYI) and then viola you’ve got your very own geofilter.

Snapchat Video Filters

Snapchat's video filters started with the basic filters of speed and Temperature. They then moved on to tracking our faces with the disturbing fun of vomiting rainbows and heart bursting eyes. We've also had the fright of our lives with Snapchat’s Halloween pumpkin heads and zombie faces, Easter devil rabbits, and so on. They’re pretty easy to use as they follow the same system as previous filters. Just record your video and swipe until you see the desired effect with the video playback. The standard and seemingly non-changing, self-explanatory, video filters are:

Rewind

The video is played backwards. A basic snapchat magic trick involves dropping something – keys are a good option – and filming it on snapchat. Simply swipe to the rewind filter and you look like your letter to Hogwarts is overdue. People have gone even further than that, throwing things so that they can make them look like they’re plucking them out of the air. Could even trick people that you have finally mastered hand-eye coordination after years of failing at sport.

Fast-forward

The video is played in double time. We recommend choosing your ultimate anthem (currently ours is Adele’s "Hello") and belt it out. Then put in double time and you’ve got the minions adaptation for your friends’ entertainment.

Slow Motion

The video is played in half time. The natural state is Dori’s whale chat, or work your sick dance moves in slow mo so that people can truly appreciate your skillz. Rewind is where your imagination can really run wild and you can join the #snapchatmagic Instagram craze. Sorry to shatter the illusion, but people have not suddenly developed the force from Star Wars, but are in fact using the snapchat filter to fool their friends. The methods are simple, yet effective.

Celebrities and Snapchat Filters

The mass interest in Snapchat filters is proof that it really doesn't take a lot to amuse humans. Everyone's really digging Snapchat filters with celebrities leading the Snapchat filter parade.
