US YouTube Star Christina Grimmie Shot Dead After Show

Christina Grimmie, YouTube star and former The Voice contestant, has been shot dead following a performance in Orlando.

The 22-year-old, who took part in the US version of the talent contest, had just finished a show at The Plaza Live, and was signing autographs when the shooting took place.

According to reports, Grimmie’s brother tackled the shooter following the attach, and the suspect then shot and killed himself.

Grimmie, who had over 3million YouTube subscribers{ =nofollow}, was signing autographs after her performance when it happened.

"It is with a heavy heart that we can confirm that Christina has passed and went home to be with the Lord,” a spokesperson for the singer confirmed this morning.

"She was shot at her show in Orlando and, unfortunately, didn't survive the gunshot wounds.

"We ask at this time that you respect the privacy of her family and friends in their time of mourning.

“This should have been something fun and exciting and for something like this to happen is just a tragedy,” said Orlando Sergeant Wanda Miglio.
