Hannah Horvath may have been accepted into the famed Writer’s Workshop at the University Of Iowa, but Girls won’t be filming at the real-life location when season four begins shooting this summer.

UI was approached by HBO who wanted permission to shoot scenes on campus after Hannah was accepted into the college in the season finale of the third series, which aired last week. One of the show’s writers, Sarah Heyward, attended the workshop, hence it’s connection to the college.

It seems the school wants to protect its reputation and, having reading the script, believes the college would be painted in a negative light.

University of Iowa Vice President of Strategic Communication Joe Brennan told the Des Moines Register: ‘After reviewing the script, I felt the storyline placed the city and university in an unfavourable light and, considering the potential for disruption, I made the decision to deny the request. I won't share details as I don’t think it fair to reveal the plot in advance. I understand this is a popular show, but it’s my job to safeguard the reputation of the university.’

We guess, since they looked for permission to shoot, Hannah’s definitely going to enter the workshop. But will she stay? We guess we’ll wait till season four begins next January or so to find out. Sob.
