Turns out Love Island’s Curtis has the right idea about leaving your socks on ‘during sex’

Studies show that sex in bed make you more likely to have an orgasm

Is it really so wrong to leave your socks on during sex?

The internet collectively gasped when they noticed last week that Love Island's Curtis had committed the ultimate faux pas: leaving his socks on in bed.

Long believed to be a deeply unsexy choice, Curtis left his socks on while in bed with Maura enjoying what Love Island described as 'adult scenes'.

(Obviously we don't know exactly and it's not for us to say whether or not Curtis and Maura actually had sex).

However, Curtis' critics might have missed a trick, because the official research into wearing socks during sex found that in spite of their unsexy reputation, wearing socks during sex can actually make you more likely to achieve an orgasm.

A study, which was conducted at the University of Groningen in 2016, used brain scans to see what wearing socks has on your sexual experience.

They found that 50% of participants (male and female mixed) reached orgasm while not wearing socks, while 80% climaxed when they were wearing a pair.

Why might wearing socks make you more likely to have an orgasm? The researchers put it down to the fact that wearing socks keeps your feet warm, which helps to dilate the blood vessels, which in turn improves your overall blood flow.

The feeling of warmth and well-being facilitates the orgasm, and can also improve the quality of sleep.

So rather than laughing at Curtis and his socks, maybe we should be putting on a pair ourselves.
