Following the news that Harry and Meghan have permanently relocated to California{ =nofollow}, Donald Trump has said that the US will not be paying for their security. The U.S. president tweeted he was ‘a great friend and admirer of the Queen and the United Kingdom’, but added: ‘They must pay!’

‘I am a great friend and admirer of the Queen & the United Kingdom,’ Trump tweeted last night. ‘It was reported that Harry and Meghan, who left the Kingdom, would reside permanently in Canada. Now they have left Canada for the U.S. however, the U.S. will not pay for their security protection. They must pay!’

The couple are believed to have left their rented £10.7million mansion in Vancouver, Canada last week after taking a private flight to the US before the border closed between the two countries.

However, Harry and Meghan later said they didn’t intend to ask the US government for security anyway. A spokesperson for the Sussexes said, ‘The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have no plans to ask the US government for security resources. Privately funded security arrangements have been made.’

The Canadian government announced that it would stop providing security for the family last month.

Last week, it was announced that Meghan is (kind of) going to switch to being a Disney princess, as she will provide the voiceover for a Disney Nature documentary about elephants for her first job since leaving the royal family.

The Twitter account for Disney Nature confirmed Meghan’s involvement, while promoting the release of Elephant and a second movie, Dolphin Reef, narrated by Natalie Portman. It had previously been reported that she wouldn't be directly paid for the project, with the money instead going to a wildlife charity of Meghan's choosing.
