I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! hasn’t even started yet, but the ITV reality show has reportedly already lost one of its biggest names. Fresh off his high-profile split from Molly-Mae Hague (and with a book to promote), Love Island star Tommy Fury was one of the names said to have signed up for the 2024 series. But according to new reports, the 25-year-old won’t be heading down under after all.
It’s hard to believe that boxer Tommy couldn’t be convinced by the offer of kangaroo testicles for tea, but apparently we won’t be seeing him in the Australian jungle any time soon. The Sun reports that Tommy had been in discussion with ITV producers for months about appearing on the ITV show, but turned the offer down just two weeks before he was due to fly out. According to the reports, he received a more lucrative offer, which is believed to be a boxing rematch against YouTuber KSI, who Tommy first fought last October.
The Sun reports that bosses were ‘surprised’ Tommy had pulled out of the show, but not too stressed as they’ve already assembled what is said to be ‘one of the most exciting’ I’m A Celeb casts ever for 2024. However, they were likely hoping that Tommy, who has been the subject of much speculation following the sudden end of his five-year relationship with Molly-Mae, would have spilled the tea about the breakdown of his seemingly perfect life with the YouTube star.
The pair, who met on Love Island in 2019 and share one-year-old daughter Bambi, were engaged when Molly-Mae, 25, announced on Instagram that they’d split. Rumours quickly emerged on social media claiming that Tommy had cheated on his fiancée (something he’s repeatedly denied, calling the allegations ‘completely false’).
In his first major interview following the split – while promoting his memoir Lightning Can Strike Twice: My Life As A Fury, which features an additional chapter discussing the break-up – Tommy doubled down in denying he’d cheated, but did admit there had been problems in their relationship. ‘It's not something I envisaged happening, but it didn't come out of nowhere,’ he said. ‘It's a thing that was there previously to all this happening, but the only people who know what is going on in our relationship is me and Molly.’
So it sounds like Tommy won’t be spilling the tea (or should that be the rice and beans?) in the jungle. Luckily, with WAG queen Coleen Rooney and Traitors’ Harry Clark on the rumoured I’m A Celeb 2024 line-up, it sounds like this’ll be a seriously spicy season, no matter what.
