The nation’s favourite bedtime storyteller Tom Hardy is back for another CBeebies Bedtime Story, but you might want to grab the tissues for this one. The fifth and final (sob) episode will be dedicated to his ‘best friend’ Woody, his Labrador cross who died in June.

Woody accompanied the actor during all of his stints as a CBeebies storyteller, all of which were filmed last year. The last instalment will be dedicated to Woody and will be aired on National Dog Day: Saturday 26 August. Tom sees the story as a ‘fitting mark of respect to the memory of Woody,’ according to a statement from CBeebies.

Hardy took to Tumblr to write an emotional tribute to Woody who lost a 'short 6 month battle with an aggressive polymyostisis' at just 6-years-old. 'I am completely gutted,' Tom wrote. 'The world for me was a better place with him in it and by my side.’

'Thank you Woody for choosing to find us,’ he continued. 'We will love you and be with you and you with us forever. Never ever ever forgotten. Your Boy tom xxx I love you beyond words. To the moon and back again and again to Infinity and beyond. Run with Max now and the Angels. I will see you when I get there.

'With all of me I love you. Always Thank you for Your love beautiful boy.’

Fittingly, the final story Tom reads is called ‘Fleabag’ and tells the tale of a young boy and his friendship with a dog.

It’s just too much to handle.
