It looks like Tom Hardy’s side hustle as CBeebies’ storyteller-in-residence is becoming a semi-regular gig for the actor, who is back by (very) popular demand with another bedtime story that’s set to air on Mother’s Day.
The star of Taboo (and potential 007-in-waiting) has proved such a hit with young viewers - and let’s not forget the legions of mums who have voiced their appreciation on social media – that he’ll return for a third story on Sunday 26th March. This time, Hardy will be lending his dulcet tones to There’s A Bear On My Chair, as confirmed on the CBeebies Twitter page with a shot of Hardy sat alongside a (polar) bear on a chair.
Hardy first appeared on the children’s TV channel on New Year’s Eve with one of his canine companions, a Labrador cross named Woody, for a reading of You Must Bring A Hat by Simon Phillip and Kate Hindley. The actor catalysed the cancellation of a million Valentine’s dates across the country when he (and Woody) returned on February 14th to read The Cloudspotter by Tom McLaughlin.
The BBC recently confirmed to Digital Spy that Hardy has actually recorded five bedtime stories in total, meaning that there are several more to come. It’s the sort of thing that reminds us why we pay our license fees – and kids or no kids, in the interests of public morale, we’re hoping that there are plenty more stories to come…
