The image of Leonardo DiCaprio holding Kate Winslet, arms aloft at the prow of a doomed ship, is one of the most iconic moments in film. The love story between Jack - a penniless artist - and Rose - a wealthy debutante - is without doubt one of our favourites. We can watch them fall for each other again and again, and we're not sure if we'll ever be able to get to the end without crying. But it could have been so different. Imagine if Leonardo and Kate had never been paired up.
Before Kate and Leonardo were cast, director James Cameron considered several alternatives. Claire Danes, Reese Witherspoon and Angelina Jolie were all in the running. Kate clinched it by acing her audition and then sending James a single rose. James auditioned Matthew McConaughey for the role of Jack, but turned it down. But someone else came pretty close, and even got all dressed up for the most swanky screen test we've ever seen. Take a look. The scene itself is familiar - Jack and Rose discuss Jack's art - but much of the dialogue changed by the time it was filmed for real.
So, who is this Jack imposter? That's Jeremy Sisto, who you may recognise from his role of Elton in Clueless. He's starred in Wrong Turn, FBI and Kidnapped, and was our favourite imperfect father figure for a while thanks to Suburgatory. But he could have been an A-Lister if he had been chosen instead of Leonardo.
Naturally, Jeremy has not wasted his time wondering what could have been and is just glad to have been considered. 'It was exciting to be a part of the process,' he told The Huffington Post. 'To be involved in something that had that kind of scope - anything James Cameron does has this huge scope to it. He's trying to push the limits on things. So I was just insanely inspired by it and a little heartbroken when the role didn't come my way.'
