Tiffany & Co. has unveiled Zoë Kravitz, St. Vincent (aka Annie Clark), Janelle Monáe, Elle Fanning, model and activist Cameron Russell and principal ballet dancer David Hallberg as the new faces of its Autumn 2017 ad campaign, shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vindoodh Matadin.
The campaign, titled ‘There’s Only One’, is the first creative expression from newly-appointed chief artistic officer Reed Krakoff, and represents a brand overhaul to lure in young consumers and promote brand growth. The campaign shines a spotlight on artists who are exceptionally talented in their respective fields and have a unique sense of style and self. Each artist is styled wearing iconic Tiffany jewellery.
As reported by WWD, Krakoff said ‘[The campaign] is a celebration of self-expression and embodies the spirit of Tiffany. The narrative is told through six individuals who are empowered, intelligent and unafraid to express themselves, each with their own unique talent and personal style.’
American actress, singer and model Zoë Kravitz may be celebrity offspring, but she has rocketed to Hollywood stardom over recent years, starring in the six-time Emmy nominated glossy whodunit drama series Big Little Lies alongside Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon; in Mad Max: Fury Road and also in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (and its upcoming sequel).
Aside from acting, Kravitz, who is close friends with Alexander Wang, has a self-awareness and self-assured sense of style that is magnetic, and in the campaign shot she is sporting her trend-setting bleached blonde pixie cut – the hairstyle du jour.
'I think being an individual is one of the more exciting things about being alive,' said Kravitz to W. 'And self-expression is our right as humans. To live, love, and express ourselves.’
Also featured in the campaign is singer and actress Janelle Monáe, who recently starred in Hidden Figures – the Oscar-nominated film about the untold contribution three African-American women made to the Apollo space programme.
Speaking to ELLE, Monáe highlighted the importance of individuality: ‘I think that individuality and embracing the things that make you unique is important to humanity, for others around you who may be uncomfortable, with their uniqueness, to finally feel confident in just being just them, and understanding that they were made, you know, unique for a specific purpose.’
Annie Clark – the Oklahoma native singer-songwriter and instrumentalist – also stars in the campaign, alongside 19-year-old Beguiled actress Elle Fanning, principal dancer for the Bolshoi Ballet and America Ballet Theatre, David Hallberg, and model and activist Cameron Russell.
The images will appear in September issues of selected print and digital publications and also on social media.
