Using his royal connections, Meghan Markle said that Meghan was only a royal because of her father buying her ‘fancy clothes’ and an ‘education’. (Cue world's biggest eyeroll.) Now, he is using his claim to fame to appear in an advert that is bound to be controversial.

Page Six has reported that Thomas Markle Jnr is starring in an advert as a thief who steals the Crown Jewels - with a lookalike actress of Meghan, named Renee Wood. According to the site, in the clip, he conspires with a Duchess of Sussex lookalike to break into ‘Buckingham Palace’. In the 30-second advert for Classic New York Beer, he grabs Queen Elizabeth II’s crown - while also stopping to take a cabinet of beer. Thomas, and the lookalike of Meghan, then make a getaway in the passenger seats, clinking their beer.

The details were released by the company’s CEO, Billie Mitchell - but Thomas Jnr has spoken out, saying he doesn’t think anyone will be ‘upset’ by the commercial. Thomas - who entered a driving under the influence diversion programme in March - told Page Six, ‘I don’t think anyone would be upset by it. It’s not going to piss anyone off. Renee did a great job as Meghan. It was a little comical. That was the point.’

Thomas last week urged Meghan to get in contact with her estranged father. He told the Daily Mail, 'I hope Meghan gets in contact but my dad needs to prepare himself for it never happening. She did not get in contact after his heart attack. But what she needs to remember is that she is only in Buckingham Palace with Harry because of her dad. He paid for her education and fancy clothes. He helped her become the exceptional woman she is and I beg her to recognise that.’
