Big question. Two women meet in an affluent Sydney suburb while they’re in the supermarket, to find out they’re both pregnant aT the same age. Agatha - who is struggling to get by - works in the supermarket, but Meghan is an affluent ‘mummy blogger’, who Agatha becomes jealous of.
The series is inspired by a real-life hospital kidnap in the 1990s, and viewers should expect a ‘taut thriller as well as a sociological portrait’.

Downton Abbey actress Laura Carmichael plays Agatha Fyfle, an outsider who becomes intrigued by a blogger, Meghan Shaughnessy who is played by_The Crown_'s Jessica de Gouw. Meghan's husband, Michael, is played by Michael Dorman. It also features Ryan Corr as Simon Beecher, Cariba Heine as Grace, Elizabeth Alexander as Renee Cole and Michael Sheasby as Hayden Cole.
‘[Agatha] is this dark character, but unlike lots of thrillers it really focuses on her emotional journey,’ Laura recently told the Daily Echo. ‘So you understood the trauma that she's been through and what has led her to where she is… It felt very unique of this genre to have this about two women and their desires to be mothers, and the need to be the perfect mum and how that flipped into being something quite dangerous.’
Where is The Secrets She Keeps filmed?
Both the book and the television series are set in Sydney, Australia, where the two women meet. Filming took place around the city - including specific filming locations Dulwich Hill, Centennial Park and Northbridge. Some of the filming also took place in the Blue Mountains National Park in New South Wales, Australia.
