Matty Healy from the The 1975 kissed a male fan during a concert in Dubai - taking a stance against the country’s strict anti-LGBTQ laws.
The singer gave the fan a quick kiss last night, after he asked the frontman to marry him.
Any same-sex relations in the country are not legal, and are punishable with up to 10 years in jail.
According to those at the gig, Matty also gave an empowering speech.
One fan tweeted, ‘Matty Healy really gave a speech about acceptance, played Loving Someone (LGBT anthem), and went down to the crowd and kissed a guy on his lips after he asked Matty to marry him all in Dubai where being gay is illegal.’
Another added, ‘Here is Matty Healy, kissing a man in a place where being gay is illegal - this man is gay rights in a human form.’
He has since tweeted about his time in Dubai, saying he’s now unsure he’ll be allowed to return.
Matty wrote, ‘Thank you Dubai you were so amazing. I don’t think we’ll be allowed back due to my ‘behaviour’ but know that I love you and I wouldn’t have done anything differently given the chance again.
‘But who knows maybe they will let me back in let’s just wait and see :)’ (Hopefully, The 1975 will be allowed to return.)
In other news, Matty has also been Facetiming Amber Gill, the unexpected winner of this year's Love Island.
Posting on Instagram earlier this week, he posted a screenshot of their call, with the simple caption, 'Icon.'
