Make no mistakes: when it comes to her Reputation album campaign, Taylor Swift is all business. While most of us are still feverishly deciphering all the veiled (not-so veiled) visual references and lyrical slights in the video for 'Look What You Made Me Do', which dropped at last week's VMA ceremony, the singer has already moved on to the next thing: in this case, teasing a brand new Reputation track titled 'Ready For It.'

The irony, of course, is that no one was particularly ready for this. The surprise preview of Swift's new song came in an equally surprising context: one minute of the track appeared in ESPN's promo clip ahead of the Florida State versus Alabama football game, which you can also currently watch via the singer's Instagram Stories.

Seeming to return to the mood of 2014's 1989 after 'Look What You Made Me Do's foray into moody Right Said Fred sampling, Ready For It has a markedly upbeat feel, leading us to question once again whether the 'old Taylor' is really 'dead' after all. Lyrics such as 'Island breeze, lights down low / No one has to know' and 'In the middle of the night, in my dreams / You should see the things we do,' meanwhile, will provide plenty of fodder for fan analysis. Is it about Calvin Harris? Tom Hiddleston? Rumoured new boyfriend Joe Alwyn? Let the conspiracy theories commence.

Though Taylor's management are yet to confirm a release date 'Ready For It,' it's fair to assume that this will be the second single from Reputation, which is set to drop on November 10th.

This weekend, the singer took a break from her current reign as pop's Walking Revenge Tragedy (TM) to serve as bridesmaid to her long-term best friend Abigail Anderson, who equally long-term Swift fans will recognise from a mildly dubious lyrical shout-out in Fearless album track, 'Fifteen' ('Abigail gave everything she had to a boy who changed his mind / We both cried'). Taylor was photographed arriving at the Old Whaling Church in Edgartown, Martha's Vineyard, wearing a floor-length dress in burgundy, and helped to carry the back of Abigail's dress before she headed down the aisle.
