After the fallout from her high profile, whirlwind, press tour of a romance with British actor Tom Hiddleston last year, Taylor Swift has opted for an altogether more low-key romance with her latest beau, Joe Alwyn.
In fact, despite dating for six months the couple has rarely been photographed together at all, with Swift neglecting to gush about their love in interviews either – which is quite the volte-face for the usually candid singer. Instead, all we’ve had so far is a snatch of song lyrics on her latest album Reputation (her single ‘Gorgeous’ is believed to be about him) and a few visits to the UK.
Now though the notoriously private couple has been spotted together in New York City, after Alwyn accompanied Swift to the Jingle Bell Ball, which she performed at. The duo were seen leaving the Madison Square Gardens venue holding hands, before getting into a waiting SUV with Swift’s long-time bestie Blake Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds. Oh, and the very Gossip Girl-esque yellow and purple plaid coat that Swift is wearing? It's from Public School NYC and is $770.
Of course, Swift’s ex Hiddleston was also introduced to the former Gossip Girl star and her husband, with their friendship inaugurated in those infamous July 4 pictures, which showed Hiddleston in a ‘I love TS’ t-shirt and Reynolds looking like he wished he was somewhere else in a couples shot (this was later turned into a brilliant meme, and the actor was forced to address his facial expression, denying that he was miserable).
