Well, we were* mostly* right! Taylor Swift has been dropping some very un-subtle hints about her new album over the past few days. She is definitely is due to release some new music, but she's not giving too much away. What we know now is that those clues were about a livestream due to happen next week.
She led fans into the announcement over the past few days with a string of social media posts: a video of her pressing an 18th floor elevator button, a phone screen reading 5 o’clock and a last post that was simply a Twitpic of the Yahoo logo, which we originally thought maybe meant she would stream her record through the site.
Basically, at 5pm EST (10pm UK time) on August 18, Taylor’s partaking in some kind of livestream on, yes, Yahoo. If it’s anything like her last livestream in 2010, she’ll probably preview some tracks from her new album and maybe even answer questions from fans.
We know an audience will be present, since those living in the New York area can enter for a chance to attend the event. The last one went on for an hour, so we imagine this will be a similar vibe.
According to her website, Taylor’s hitting the promo circuit (Late Night With Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel Live) to promote… well, we’re not sure exactly. We guess she’s promoting the promotion?
In any case, we’ll be right here, popcorn at the ready and glued to our screens on August 18th.
