Taylor Swift has taken to her Instagram page in order to completely mess with our minds, dropping clues and inviting us all to unravel what the hell they mean. Short answer: she’s got a new album out v soon.
The singer started this mind game earlier this week, posting the first clue, conveniently labeled CLUE #1 (gettit?), showing her pushing a button with the number 18 on it over and over again.
Could that mean that something’s going to happen on the 18th? Well, probably, but there’s maybe a chance that there’s going to be 18 tracks on the album? Or maybe 18/10 is just the level of excitement we’re feeling about taking part in this mystery. TELL US TAYLOR, THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING US!

The next clue was a little bit more meta. It showed a screenshot of the time 5.00 on her phone with her background set as her Scottish Fold kitten Olivia Benson (which, incidentally, is a frightfully grown-up name for a kitten).
The kitten is sitting on a shelf below a (if we’re honest, not exactly a brilliant) painting of New York’s skyline. In case anyone hadn’t cottoned on that this was clue #2, Taylor captioned it ‘Cluuuuuue number twooooo…’ So, so far it looks like something’s going to happen on the 18th at 5pm. And/or include Taylor’s cat or New York. Got it.
Then clue number three arrived today and it’s really got us puzzled because it’s basically just a screenshot of the Yahoo! homepage.
Let’s hope that means she’s streaming the album live through Yahoo! (and if so, sidenote – what a coup for them because who’s been there for a while?) rather than naming her new record after a computer browser that last featured in *You’ve Got Mail. *Because if it’s the latter, Taylor – it’s not too late to reconsider, babes...
