Taylor Swift Had A Record-Breakingly Good Night At The American Music Awards

Taylor Swift was the real winner of last night’s American Music Awards – breaking Michael Jackson’s record to become the artist with the highest number of AMAs. As well as being crowned artist of the decade, Swift also won another five awards, bringing her total to a whopping 28.

A couple of weeks ago, it looked uncertain whether the singer would be able to perform her greatest hits, due to a fall out with her former record label{ =nofollow}, which owns the tracks. After namechecking the label's CEO Scott Borchetta and exec Scooter Braun in a Twitter post, Taylor was granted permission by Big Machine Group - which said she didn’t need permission in the first place - to perform her old tracks.

In a prison-style white shirt, printed with the names of albums owned by her former label, Taylor was defiant - and started her performance with one of her new tracks, The Man, a song about sexist double standards in the music industry. She then quickly switched into a sequinned leotard, for a performance of Shake It Off with Camila Cabello and Halsey. Her 13-minute performance ended with her latest single, Lover.
