MeOw! Taylor Swift’s Cat Scratches Her $40 Million Legs

When reports circulated last week that Taylor Swift had insured her legs for a staggering $40 million, we assumed that the insurance was in case of any onstage mishaps.

With her 1989 world tour coming up, the precaution was rumoured to have been underway, so that Taylor would’t lose everything if she could no longer shake it (off) on stage.

"It seems like a ludicrous sum, but if something was to happen to her legs, Swift wouldn't be able to give her signature stage performances” a source said. "Her $200 million career would be in big trouble."

But we never suspected that Taylor was facing threats to her $40 million legs from within her own home. Oh, how wrong we were.

Meredith, Taylor Swift’s impossibly cute cat, got a little less cute yesterday when she scratched the singer's leg. Poking fun at the claims made about her and her pins, Taylor took to Instagram. Posting a picture of the painful looking scratch, the singer used an all-caps caption, “GREAT WORK MEREDITH. I WAS JUST TRYING TO LOVE YOU AND NOW YOU OWE ME 40 MILLION DOLLARS”.

Ever the pun fan, Taylor proceeded to upload a second snap to Instagram. The Blank Space singer, stuck a plaster on the wound, customising it with the word ‘meow’… me ow. We see what you did there, Tay.

The event has left Swifties with a lot of questions. Are Taylor's legs insured for $20 million each, or $40 million? If Meredith owes her $40 million for scratching only one leg, does that mean they're worth $80 million all together? Why did Meredith do it?!

Maybe the Scottish Fold feline was lashing out for attention since the arrival of Olivia Benson (Taylor’s second cat) because she felt Olivia was stealing the limelight. Maybe she was sick of Taylor’s demanding selfie schedule, or being carried around New York like a clutch bag. Or maybe she was looking for a $40 million payout.

For now, we can only speculate as to Meredith's motivations, but we'll be keeping a close eye on all Instagram videos of the world's most adorable kitty, in case any clues pop up. (It's a tough job).
