With the rise of personal music players and infinitely customisable virtual music libraries, musical tribalism has fallen by the wayside. Which means that, in lay terms, you really can like Taylor Swift and Kanye West’s music. At almost the same time too, if you’re Kendall Jenner and Cara Delevingne.
The model BFFs started their night off at Taylor Swift’s British Summer Time Gig in London’s Hyde Park (Cara had just come from overlooking the London Pride march from a hotel in Piccadilly Circus). The pair, along with fellow models Gigi Hadid, Martha Hunt, Karlie Kloss and tennis player Serena Williams, all joined Taylor on stage while Cara flew a massive union jack flag around.
But while Cara and Kendall were soon about to leave, Taylor wouldn’t be alone – apart from her other on-stage famous pals, she had friends in her crowd, telling them, reports the BBC: ‘My definition of friendship has two requirements. You have to like me and you have to want to spend time with me.
‘So I guess the reason I'm so happy right now is I'm hanging out with 65,000 friends in Hyde Park.’
Kendall and Cara swift-ly (get it?!) left, presumably bundling into a helicopter (honestly, cab firm Addison Lee were putting on helicopters for Glastonbury travellers on a luxury budget) for a journey that’s normally 124 miles (two hours and 44 minutes) by car.
They arrived at Worthy Farm, where Glastonbury festival is held, little under two hours later, just in time for Kendall’s brother-in-law Kanye’s set time of 10.30pm.
Wearing T-shirts that read ‘CaKe tour’ (it's a self-made nickname, a portmanteau of the first letters of their names), the pair danced about to Kanye’s set, proving that you can be Taylor’s BFF and enjoy Kanye West’s music.
While some speculated that ‘comedian’ Lee Nelson’s stage invasion of Kanye’s set (which Kanye handled pretty well, continuing to rap for a bit, expressing some exasperation and then restarting the song for his fans) was there to right the wrongs Kanye caused Taylor way back in 2009, we think that feud might long be settled, anyway.
Kendall and Cara don’t seem to be conflicted about their loyalties to either musician, so why should anybody else? It doesn’t take a helicopter ride to realise who are the biggest male and female solo artists in the world right now.
