Can We Stop The Rumours That Tilly Ramsay Is Being Saved On Strictly Because Of Her Dad?

If it's not the infamous Strictly curse everyone is stressing about, then contestants have to worry that people will claim the results are fixed. The latest star to be subject to these - most likely untrue - rumours is Tilly Ramsay, the 19-year-old daughter of Gordon Ramsay{ =nofollow}.

Gordon, of course, is one of the most famous men in the country, loved by many who like to watch Kitchen Nightmares when hungover, but Tilly's famous connection hasn't always stood her in the best stead. When she was cruelly mocked by LBC host Steve Allen{ =nofollow}, who called her a 'chubby little thing', instead of showing sympathy and empathy to a young woman who had been targeted, some said that she should have a talk to her dad, who has - in the past - fat-shamed people. (In 2017, the chef called Jamie Oliver fat and accused him of fixing the UK obesity crisis by eating everything himself. And on Hell's Kitchen, in 2007, Gordon told one contestant: 'You are one chunky monkey, aren’t you?')

Now, people are back to focusing on Gordon again, as there are some news stories which are claiming the only reason Tilly is being saved in the competition is because of her dad. A source told the Mail on Sunday: 'There’s a feeling that there’s some blatant favouritism going on here – that they are pushing Tilly to win, or at least get to the final, because they want to nick her dad.' (A BBC spokesman declined to comment to the Mail.)

It's what happens on every reality show, when there's a result people don't like - audiences, or even those on the show, are quick to blame it on being a fix. When swimmer Adam Peaty was kicked off the competition earlier this month - he was up against Tilly in a dance-off - his mum even tweeted that she didn't believe the public vote.

But when Tilly likely spends most of her day rehearsing - as professional Diane Buswell told us{ =nofollow}, you're training from 8am to 6pm - and is taking the competition as seriously as anyone else, is it really fair to claim that she's only where she is because of her dad?

Plus, TV bosses would surely be able to go to less trouble than letting Gordon's daughter in the Strictly final to try and get him to do some shows for the BBC... That really is a lot of effort. Maybe it's just time to accept that Tilly is incredibly popular, likeable and tries really bloody hard at dancing. And, at the end of the day, that has nothing to do with her very famous dad.
