Taylor Swift and Martha Hunt cheering on Gigi Hadid at Tommy Hilfiger? David and Harper giving moral support to Victoria Beckham? Apologies in advance, guys, but you’ve just been displaced in our fickle affections by the front row gang we never knew we’d been missing: Winona Ryder and Millie ‘Eleven’ Bobby Brown, stars of Netflix’s sci-fi hit Stranger Things.
‘90s icon Winona was greeted with a hug by her 12-year-old co-star when she joined her on the front row at Coach’s S’S/17 womenswear show, which was held in a warehouse space at the Hudson River Parks Pier in New York. With a set that included a towering stack of beaten-up retro cars, it couldn’t have been a more appropriate setting for the fashion world’s take on a Stranger Things reunion – and for Millie’s first ever catwalk show.
Millie layered one of the brand’s trademark varsity-style bomber jackets over a clashing print dress, while Winona wore the dinosaur motif knit jumper that we never knew we needed (but would certainly like to acquire right now, thank you).
Also in attendance as guests of creative director Stuart Vevers were campaign star Chloe Grace Moretz and actress Emma Roberts, who made an appearance on Millie’s Snapchat account in this excellent front row selfie.
On the runway, the latest collection from Coach put a subversive spin on the brand's signature all-American style: floral dresses re-worked with punkish sheer panels, customised biker jackets and plenty of fringing. As a nod to the 'see now, buy now' format that is shaking up the traditional fashion month calendar, an edited selection of S/S'17 pieces will be available to buy online from this afternoon.
Despite being a NYFW rookie, Millie didn’t seemed phased by her front row status. ‘It’s not at all overwhelming,’ she told InStyle. ‘It’s such an amazing experience. I love it.’
If she can deal with the Upside Down, we're certain she can handle Fashion Week...
