Veteran New York Times fashion photographer Bill Cunningham has passed away at the age of 87.
He had recently been hospitalised following a stroke.
Cunningham spent almost 40 years working for the publication, which confirmed his death, and paid tribute to the man whose spreads were a staple in their style section.
He was known for chronicling trends on the streets of New York, and cut a recognisable figure in his signature blue jacket and travelling on his bicycle.
Cunningham famously lived a modest life, often tearing up cheques he received in payment. He once said: "Money's the cheapest thing. Liberty and freedom is the most expensive."

"His company was sought after by the fashion world's rich and powerful, yet he remained one of the kindest, most gentle and humble people I have ever met," said New York Times Chairman Arthur Ochs Sulzberger Jr.
"We have lost a legend, and I am personally heartbroken to have lost a friend."
Lena Dunham, Jaime King and Gigi Hadid are amongst the celebrities paying tribute to the legendary photographer.
